New code download
Posted by maderape on 2011-05-05
Khronos DES has suffered a complete rewrite. A more recent
version is now available from the download area.
Rui, our main and only developer, was also so kind as to write some introductory documentation and tutorials
published on the python website.
There is also a bunch of example files available in the /khronos/des/examples/
directory distributed with the code.
New code download
Posted by maderape on 2010-05-24
A new code (version 0.6.14 from 2010-05-19) is available for
download
Meanwhile we have also updated our
svn repository and
documentation in raw format is available in svn directory "docs/sphinx".
Conference Presentation
Posted by maderape on 2010-05-03
We've all been tied up for the past year and there seems to
be no end to things that will carry us away from this wonderful project.
We should have done it a long time ago; here it is anyway:
the presentation from the 39th International Conference on Computers & Industrial
Engineering (CIE39).
And psst: heard that Rui was working on a khronos tutorial. Shhhh.
Conference Paper
Posted by maderape on 2009-06-16
Between 6th and 8th of July Rui will present a paper on the
39th International Conference on Computers & Industrial
Engineering (CIE39) in Troyes, France. The paper is entitled Khronos - a High-level
Framework for Discrete Event Simulation in Python.
Meanwhile, in the past months the code for khronos and sfs
has been almost completely rewritten and by July we shall publish the complete and updated
framework for download.
Documentation and Code Released
Posted by maderape on 2008-12-17
Finally, we have made khronos-des version 0.4.8c available for download.
This is the latest, though not completely bug-free, running version.
Since that version was tested, the code has still been undergoing a lot of structural changes, and therefore we have also
published the current development version 0.5.4a in the svn repository. Checkout the download
page for instructions on obtaining the latest development code from the subversion repository.
Requirements and installation instructions can be found on our Wiki installation page.
This project is being developed in cooperation with the
University of Porto (Portugal) together with a large international industrial corporation.
The first part of the project providing a discrete event simulation framework has been
completed, though the model building facilities for shop-floor simulation, are still limited
to representing basic manufacturing components, and thus do not allow for complex model
building and analysis. Rui is working hard on getting his tasks coordinated and also
conclude the coding of the recently introduced improvements in the data collection facilities.
We expect to be able eliminate all bugs and post an improved Kronos-DES version sometime
in January 2009.
In the meantime, we have published the written results of the
project in the form of a
master thesis/documentation
combo and also provide some overview slides.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2009!
Forum and Wiki Online
Posted by maderape on 2008-11-07
The
discussion forum board is now online, though still not yet filled with much
content. We have created some basic categories and sub-forums. The rest will hopefully develop with time.
Also the Wiki is available for use, so you may start writing content if you wish ;-).
Project Move Complete
Posted by maderape on 2008-11-06
Finally, we are at a new location (http://khronos-des.sourceforge.net/), still within sourceforge.net.
Initially, while we were searching for a name, we had in mind Cronos, the greek god of time,
and have registered our project accordingly, though later we found the idea
of the original greek writing "Khronos" much more attractive.
Unfortunately, the SourceForge move to the new data center made it impossible to
rename the project rapidly. Two months after submitting the rename request, the renaming facilities are still down, so
we have decided to create a new project on sf.net and that's where we are now.
Watch out for more services coming online in the next weeks. We will be installing
an svn repository, MediaWiki for collaborative documentation content, and a phpBB forum for user
discussions.
Project Rename
Posted by maderape on 2008-10-14
We are currently in the process of validating simple demo models and at the same time
are waiting for SourceForge to rename our project to khronos-des (note: web page url
will change, too). When things are done on both sides we'll be committing code and
example models.
Meanwhile we have posted a listing of features you can expect from
the current state of the engine under About.
Welcome
Posted by maderape on 2008-09-17
khronos is a free, discrete-event simulation engine
developed under Python and distributed under the
GNU General Public License (GPL) v3.
Currently under development, we have implemented rudimentary functionality and
hope to be soon posting the code and model examples.
